SEO Question: Why does that non-optimised site outrank my site which has been SEO’d?
An SEO question I was recent asked was – why does that non-optimised site outrank my site which has been SEO’d?
Now there could be a number of reasons for this including:
- website speed
- social elements
- content quality
- back links
- and so on…
This is a great question and Matt Cutts, head of Google’s Webspam team, answers this in a short video on the Google Webmaster Central Channel – http://www.youtube.com/GoogleWebmasterHelp.
As you can see from the video, a big emphasis is put on quality and trusted back links. Off page optimisation is a massive factor and just performing on page SEO isn’t enough to achieve great rankings for competitive kewyords. To find out more about link building, click here.
