My top 10 SEO tips for Pinterest

Pinterest SEOTwitter, Facebook, Digg, Stumbleupon, LinkedIn… we all know them well.

But what about Pinterest? One of the newest crazes, instead of bookmarking links or text, you pin images to boards of your choice. Pinterest is another social media channel which can be utilised for brand and product purposes.

Wikipedia has this to say about Pinterest:

SEO for startups – my top tips, recommended websites and tools

Startup SEO

In June 2011 I wrote a post around SEO for startups which you can read here. Whilst many of the points still stand, there are other tasks you should be doing.

The reason for me revisiting this post is due to Google algorithm updates (Panda & Penguin) and varying online marketing techniques.

Below are my existing and new top tips, recommended websites and tools:

5 quick SEO tips for your LinkedIn profile

As we’ve established in my previous link building posts and guides, using all of your social sites effectively is a must.

One site you may be on is LinkedIn which can be used on many levels. I must stress that by doing these techniques, you won’t all of a sudden appear number one in Google, but these tips can add that little something extra to your overall SEO strategy and backlink profile.

3 ways ‘Google Alerts’ can help your SEO efforts

Google Alerts is a fantastic little tool which all SEOers and webmasters can use to find new opportunities to drive SEO efforts forward.

Wikipedia defines Google Alerts as follows:

“Google Alerts is content change detection and notification service, offered by the search engine company Google, that automatically notifies users when new content from news, web, blogs, video and/or discussion groups matches a set of search terms selected by the user and stored by the Google Alerts service.”

A lot of the same areas are covered with newer and in-depth information provided.

My 3 golden link building rules still apply:

My thoughts and findings on the Google +1 button and whether or not it affects rankings and SEO… [Updated Results]

A really hot topic at the moment is whether or not the Google +1 button affects rankings.

So what is the +1 button?

Google gives this short but great explanation:

“The +1 button is shorthand for “this is pretty cool” or “you should check this out.

Click +1 to publicly give something your stamp of approval. Your +1′s can help friends, contacts, and others on the web find the best stuff when they search.”

SERM Help: What should I do about bad online reviews about my company?

Image from SXC.hu

Here is a great search engine reputation management (SERM) question that was recently submitted:

“Due to the current client, unfortunately, my company had to close. Since then I have launched a new company under a new name offering similar services and some of my old clients have got wind of this.

This has lead to them leaving bad reviews online about my new company and when you search for my new business name on Google, these bad reviews are appearing on the first page under my website. So my question is, what can I do?”
