Advice on starter hosting requirements

Server and hosting roomSo, from time to time I get asked about hosting. From an SEO point of view this can be very important.

If you looking to take you’re product to the UK market, you’re best option is to have UK based hosting as Google can add extra weight on to you’re positioning in Google.co.uk.

There are many great hosting companies, but I would seriously recommend Easyspace, this is based on:

  • the level of support they offer
  • techie no how
  • customer control panel
  • hosting and domain packages
  • pricing points

As a start-up company, you’ll want to keep you’re costs down, so here is a great spec to get you going:

  • Email accounts: 5
  • Bandwidth: Unlimited
  • Disk space: 5GB
  • Database: If you are running WordPress or an ecommerce solution then you will need at least one and this may afffect the amount of disc space you need.
  • Operating system: Linux
  • Host location: UK (if you are targeting the UK market)
